Mission Statement

Our Future Forward is dedicated to empowering communities, reducing Child Protective Services (CPS) recidivism, and informing individuals and families of their rights when navigating the child welfare system. We strive to preserve the family unit by providing comprehensive training, resources and support to both mandated reporters and families in need. Our mission is to build strong communities and create a safe and nurturing environment for children to thrive.

Hard Truths

In 2022, mandated reporters generated 82.5% of suspected child abuse or neglect reports screened by DCFS staff; however, only 16% were determined to be substantiated. Overreporting causes harm to marginalized communities and increases child and family vulnerability. To address this issue, we provide training on how to make accurate, detailed reports to prevent excessive reporting and potential harm to marginalized communities.
